The Political Drawings pt.1

I, by no means consider myself a political cartoonist. A few days ago in a conversation someone referred to me as a political cartoonist and although I have made some political drawings I don’t consider myself one. There are a lot of political cartoonist, legit cartoonists that are way better than me at expressing their political statements and I can only hope to be as good as any of them. For years I ignored politics, thinking that my voice didn’t make a difference or that it didn’t matter. I sometimes feel that way, but in 2016 my mind started to change when the 45th president...

The Father of Lies

The father of lies, the deceiver, the shining one, the morning star. He is know by many names, the most common one is Lucifer. In this series I explore the many names of the fallen angel. The Shining One The Shining One is the first one in this new series, it started as a tribute to an artist I follow on Instagram called godmachine and studying Mike Mignola’s art on Hellboy.

#witchlife

This fall what started as a warmup sketch turned into a full series. To make this long story short. At the beginning of September I started working on a series called Father Of Lies and the day I was going to publish the first one I made a warmup drawing of a witch, just for fun. When I did it, I wasn’t expecting any reaction, but thankfully it was well received, so I decided do make another one and suddenly I had series of witches and familiars however, I didn’t have a name for this series. What to call a series of drawings of witches life? Witches? The Life of a witch? A witches life?...

Changes

Changes, we go through so many changes during our lives. We change our hair cut, we change our cars, we change our environments and who our friends are. We evolve constantly, hopefully for the better. I’m no stranger to change, I am not the same person I was 3 years ago when Gambit’s Ink became a more serious venture. I have grown, in spirit, in knowledge and in skills. I have leveled up (It is a cooler way to say I’m older). My work has evolved in the past 3 years, this past year alone it has change tremendously. Even the way I approach a project have seen some changes and I’m...

Fullminator: An Artist Spotlight

As some of you know I recently visited Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Comic Con. I work this convention every year now since 2014, this year I had this band called Fullminator in front of my booth and as much as I love metal I was a bit skeptical and annoyed about the idea of having a band in front of me. Just thinking about how much noise was this booth going to make all weekend on top of the regular noise gave me a headache when I was setting up on Thursday night. Boy, was I wrong. They had their latest album Crackattack playing all weekend at a decent volume, so it wasn’t at all bothersome,...

House Of M: The Legacy of Cristina Moran.

  • March 12, 2019

The first time I saw Cristina it was during the 90’s, I was watching the news at a bar and she was advertising a signing event with Jae Lee ( I hope I’m remembering this right) at her store, Metro Comics. I was young and didn’t have a car or the means to visit that store, but by the gods I couldn’t wait to visit it. Fast forward a few years and I finally got to visit the store, it was a small place in the mall, it was cramped with books, comics, shirts and collectibles. It was difficult to walk around the store if there were more than 6 people inside and I was in love with the store,...
